JOB TITLE: Community Outreach Liaison

Part-Time (5 hours per day)

EXEMPT: No

GRADE: 111

LOCATION: Family Resource Center(s)

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 12-Month

REPORTS TO: Family Resource Center Coordinator

SUMMARY: The Community Outreach Liaison works under the direction of the Family Resource Center Coordinator. The Community Outreach Liaison will help families access resources and services at the Family Resource Center(s) and in the local community as well as offer referrals to programs and services designed to meet their diverse needs. This position will build rapport with schools and the surrounding neighborhoods they service as well as working collaboratively with community partners and providing an assortment of trainings and resources for the school community.

JOB GOAL: To support family and community access to resources and services at the Family Resource Center and to collaborate to provide developmentally appropriate experiences for participating families of children 0-5 to enhance learning for all students.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma GED or equivalent
  • Valid fingerprint clearance card (IVP)
  • Computer proficiency to include use of basic software programs (Microsoft Office Suite.)
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work well with students parents district personnel and the general public
  • Knowledge of Community Resources

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual Spanish
  • Associates Degree
  • At least two years experience in related work with families.
  • Experience working with community and/or state agencies

Such alternatives to the above required & preferred qualifications as the Superintendent/Designee may find appropriate and acceptable

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Conducts outreach and recruitment activities in order to build relationships and rapport with families.
  2. Acts as a liaison with family members regarding available resources and referrals throughout the community.
  3. Maintains a current event calendar that lists activities located at or sponsored by the Family Resource Center.
  4. Collaborates with school and district personnel.
  5. Develops materials and activities to engage community partners and leverage outreach opportunities (e.g. posters flyers brochures social media etc.)
  6. Maintains a presence at the Family Resource Center(s) in order to provide services and support to families with children 0 to age 5.
  7. Collaborates with other providers community agencies and organizations that serve families with children 0 to age 5.
  8. Facilitates workshops and trainings for families and community members as appropriate.
  9. Regularly review the success of recruitment activities and adjust the plan as needed.
  10. Keep a record of recruitment/engagement strategies and referral sources into the program (e.g. staffed event word of mouth community partner etc.)
  11. Collects and provides data consistent with the guidelines and requirements of all components of grant partners
  12. Completes grant-related data reports to ensure compliance

SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Skills are required to perform multiple tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: utilizing standard office equipment; and utilizing pertinent software applications.

Knowledge is required to perform basic math including calculations using fractions percents and/or ratios; understand written procedures write routine documents and speak clearly; and understand multi-step oral and written instructions. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: various position-specific information learned on-the-job.

Ability is required to schedule activities meetings and/or events; routinely gather collate and/or classify data; and use basic job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with data utilizing specifically defined processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of widely varied types and/or purposes; and utilize specific job-related working with others problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: being attentive to detail; communicating with diverse groups; adhering to safety practices; maintaining confidentiality; meeting deadlines and schedules; and maintaining detailed records.

RESPONSIBILITY:

Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; providing information and advising others; and operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the jobs functions. There is a continual opportunity to significantly impact the Organizations services.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read analyze and interpret education materials and programs; ability to write reports procedure manuals and correspondence; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of teachers students administration and the community.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Knowledge is required to perform basic math including calculations using fractions percents and/or ratios; review and interpret highly technical information write technical materials and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling; some stooping kneeling crouching and/or crawling; and significant fine-finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 50% sitting 25% walking and 25% standing. The job is performed in a generally clean and hazard-free environment and in varying atmospheric conditions.

EVALUATION: At least once annually in accordance with Governing Board Policy

EFFECTIVE COLLABORATION AND COMMUNICATION: Ability to work collaboratively with peers in decision-making and work to provide assistance on major issues in the organization regardless of whether the carrying out the decision is in ones division. Effective communication and positive interaction with community staff parents and students.
