Job Description

Nuclear Medicine Technologist (Permanent Role)
Location: San Angelo TX 76903
Shift: 06:30 AM - 03:30 PM
Guaranteed Hours: (40 hours/week)
Compensation: Based on experience (Negotiable)

Essential Functions:

  • Perform high-quality imaging procedures as per exam protocols in a timely manner.
  • Understand and monitor radiation dose levels; take action when dose reference levels are exceeded including patient follow-up if necessary.
  • Utilize AIDET (Acknowledge Introduce Duration Explanation Thank You) in patient communications to ensure quality service and comfort.
  • Instruct and communicate with patients and families regarding procedures and assess the patients ability to tolerate exams.
  • Prepare patients and equipment for procedures by positioning the patient using immobilization devices and adjusting controls to set exposure factors.
  • Adhere to all safety infection control drug and radiation protocols.
  • Maintain sterile techniques during invasive procedures and follow all hand hygiene protocols.
  • Keep equipment and work area clean and operational; collaborate with engineers and physicists to ensure equipment performance.
  • Report equipment or supply issues to management.
  • Help maintain inventory of necessary supplies.

  • Strong communication skills to explain procedures and reduce patient anxiety.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining professionalism.
  • Skill in administering first aid and using emergency equipment as needed.
  • Commitment to quality service and patient satisfaction.
  • Ongoing education and competency in caring for patients across various age groups (newborn to geriatric).
  • Ability to serve as a preceptor and train new team members on protocols and equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Certification/license in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • New graduates accepted; on-the-job training and mentorship provided.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
