Ko tōu ake mahi - What youll do

As an Advisor youll play a key part in supporting the Ministrys legislative and regulatory responsibilities for individuals under compulsory care. Youll produce high-quality reports manage statutory processes and provide trusted advice to senior leaders. This is a great opportunity to work across the Ministry and with external partners contributing to the protection of human rights and the delivery of effective services.

  • Contribute to statutory processes including the development of reports guidelines templates and regulatory standards.

  • Monitor service providers review and summarise reports and engage with providers to support effective service delivery.

  • Prepare regulatory briefings covering leave and legal status of individuals under compulsory care ensuring compliance and safeguarding rights.

  • Handle sensitive material with care manage confronting and highly personal information with professionalism and discretion.

  • Support ministerial and parliamentary work draft correspondence respond to questions and prepare briefings and information requests.

  • An interest in mental health human rights and the law

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to synthesize and filter complex information.

  • An ability to interpret and apply legislation and statutory processes and knowing how they can be implemented effectively

  • Understanding the role and tools of a regulator
