Our cardiovascular surgery NP/PA hospitalist work collaboratively with our surgeons residents/fellows nurses and other staff to provide 24/7 coverage of acutely ill patients on the progressive care unit in the hospital. This role requires timely assessments interventions interpretation of diagnostic tests and management of acute and chronic medical conditions. Patient and family education about recovery and disease process is also a crucial part of the health promotion for our patients.

The patient population NP/PAs manage includes the pediatric and/or adult CV surgical patient heart and lung transplant and VAD patients in the Progressive Care Units. Working in collaboration with talented surgeons and a multidisciplinary team this diverse patient population provides you the opportunity to hone your skills in a specialty or for continuous learning as you care for these patients. Shifts are 13-hour day/night rotation with every third weekend and 2 holidays per year. The ability to pick your own schedule allows for valued off-time for personal pursuits development and life/work balance.

Ideal candidates would have a continuous desire to learn and develop as a cardiovascular surgery provider.
A minimum of a Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and nurse practitioner program. Current Minnesota RN license and certification or eligible to be certified as an FNP ANP or ACNP; or a doctorate prepared Nurse Practitioner; or
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by the NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice.
The NP PA must be eligible for DEA registration.
