JOB BAND: C
CONTRACT TYPE: 6 month Fixed Term Full-time
DEPARTMENT: BBC News Design
LOCATION: London Hybrid
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: 32250 - 42250 depending on relevant skills knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

JOB PURPOSE
Join the BBC News Design team to shape how stories are told across digital and broadcast platforms. As a Designer youll play a key role in crafting visually compelling and editorially sound content that reaches millions helping to bring the most important stories to life.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
- Produce distinctive high-quality visual content across digital and broadcast platforms.
- Collaborate effectively with editorial and technical teams to deliver cohesive storytelling.
- Ensure all content is inclusive and representative of our diverse audiences.
- Stay current with design trends and emerging technologies.
- Champion usability and accessibility in all design outputs.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Strong background in motion design with experience in digital and broadcast news environments.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite especially After Effects and Photoshop.
- A compelling portfolio or showreel demonstrating creative flair and storytelling ability.
- Ability to adapt design styles and approaches to suit different platforms and audiences.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to explain design decisions clearly.
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
- Familiarity with data visualisation and interactive storytelling.
- Understanding of BBC editorial guidelines and values.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards in digital design.
- Relevant degree or equivalent professional experience.
