Job Summary

Job Summary

The Department of Computer Science seeks candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor with an active research agenda that includes publication of research papers in peer-reviewed conferences and journals and/or submission of research grants and contract proposals to various funding agencies. Faculty of Lamar University are also expected to participate in service opportunities at the department college and university levels (e.g. advising students serving as mentors to students participating in committees). Finally candidates should be prepared to teach any combination of courses in the undergraduate curricula in Computer Science and teach masters courses in one or more of the research areas listed above.

Essential Job Functions

  • Implement effective teaching strategies.
  • Maintain an active research agenda that includes publication of research papers in peer-reviewed journals and/or submission of research grants.
  • Actively participate in academic service at the department college and university levels.

Minimum and Desired Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
    • A Ph.D. in Computer Science is required and must be completed by the start date.
Desired Qualifications:
    • All areas of Computer Science will be considered. Preference will be given to candidates with specialization in one or more of the following areas: Game Development Visual Computing Bioinformatics and AI Security.
