Position Description

Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) hasan exciting opportunity for an innovative Human Resources Professional to join our team as a Short-Term Temporary Employee and Labor Relations Advisor. This candidate will play a vital role in the culture and employee experience at SPU.

This advisor is responsible for fostering partnerships with all levels of employees management and business partners to provide advice consulting and mentoring guidance regarding employee and labor relation processes procedures and best practices as they relate to employee engagement recognition training performance misconduct allegations of discrimination harassment retaliation labor practices and EEO matters.

This opportunity is expected to last approximately 11-months in durationand isopen to ALL qualified candidates.

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities include the following:

  • Conduct investigations into allegations of discrimination harassment misconduct and other issues.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and advise on employee and labor relations processes including performance management EEO matters training and employee engagement.
  • Advice employees and supervisors on personnel issues interpret City Personnel Rules Department Guidelines SPU Workplace Expectations and Collective Bargaining Agreements.

Qualifications

Experience Requirement:

  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible labor relations administrationexperience is required.
Education Requirement:
  • Bachelors degree in Labor Relations Business or Public Administration Human Resources Management Economics or a closely related field OR if no degree two (2) additional years of qualifying experience is required.

Combinations of appropriate education training certification and experience(s) will be evaluated on an individual basis for comparability.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with public sector organizational practices and labor unions.
  • Experience working with a complex diverse workforce with both front-line staff and management

This hiring process involves a background check of conviction and arrest records in compliance with Seattles Fair Chance Employment Ordinance SMC 14.17. Applicants will beprovidedan opportunity to explain or correct background information.

The full salary range for this position is $50.08 per hour -$75.12 per hour.

Workplace Environment (*Telework Expectation):
This position allows for the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule. Employees will be required to come into the office twice a week. Individual schedules will be agreed upon by the employee and their supervisor.
