JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager is an experienced sourcing professional responsible for driving complex high-impact strategic sourcing/procurement initiatives. This role will oversee all sourcing/procurement related activities and processes associated with the acquisition of products materials and services which will include Fresh Food Bakeries Commissaries and Warabeya. The Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager is essential in shaping the sourcing strategy for designated categories by leading a team of Sourcing professionals and cross functional stakeholders through a structured data-driven approach leveraging advanced data-driven business insights to support sourcing decisions that will result in significant savings for the company. This role is also responsible for mentoring others building strategic business stakeholder partnerships managing key supplier relationships driving multiple complex strategic sourcing events and using data analysis for effective negotiations and contract development. The Senior Manager Strategic Sourcing must have proven leadership skills and the ability to influence peers and cross functional stakeholders. This position leads business conversations with senior leaders challenging the status quo and finding best value solutions. This role is responsible for developing and implementing procurement best practices developing sourcing strategies managing contract life cycle and building supplier relationships in support of 7-Elevens key initiatives and growth strategy.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

  • Consistently engage with senior leaders and key business stakeholders to understand business strategy and goals and facilitate/align on the sourcing/procurement strategy to support the business goals and optimize total cost of ownership.
  • Use data and analysis to develop key business insights and drive decisions to develop and implement strategic sourcing/procurement strategies and execution plans for designated categories.
  • Identify suppliers execute RFQ/RFP events analyze results develop the negotiation strategy and negotiate highly complex large value and multi-year contracts with strategic suppliers to ensure optimal pricing reduced risk and favorable terms to drive optimized total-cost-of-ownership.
  • Build and maintain strong strategic relationships with suppliers and stakeholders. Develop the implementation strategy to ensure timely delivery of products/services with defined SLAs. Help manage the implementation of new supplier services and goods and understand dependencies to help mitigate risks during implementation.
  • Understand and manage high risk sensitive compliance events.
  • Is seen as the go to expert related to the categories he/she supports. Ability to solve problems by assessing the situation leveraging and analyzing relevant data identifying root cause and developing solutions to resolve any issues that arise.
  • Manage and balance multiple simultaneous and complex sourcing events and contract negotiations.
  • Analyze market trends and evaluate the impact of external factors on the procurement of products. Stay up to date with industry developments and advancements related to the procurement of products. Identify/interview potential suppliers and determine suppliers capabilities.
  • Understand and recommend high impact projects for existing and emerging products and services that drive meaningful results: reduce cost and risk and improve quality.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders. Provide regular updates on progress. Participate in the advancement of corporate sustainability programs through sourcing.
  • Manage direct reports providing mentoring and development. Coach and mentor others on sourcing standards and processes.

KEY LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES

  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight providing guidance to stakeholders other sourcing professionals and direct reports.
  • Strong leadership organization coaching and influencing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels; including executive leadership stakeholders and external contractors / suppliers.
  • Ability to create the case for change and help drive and manage the change with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to solve problems by assessing the situation leveraging and analyzing relevant data identifying root cause and developing potential solutions.
  • Makes informed decisions demonstrates initiative and acts with autonomy to execute initiatives.
  • High level of agility and adaptability; ability to quickly learn details of new business challenges and identify dependencies and impacts of other key initiatives.
  • Manage collaboration and communication with other teams both internal and external to ensure teams have what they need and can work efficiently.
  • Drives results and establishes metrics to monitor track and report sourcing project progress.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

EDUCATION: Bachelors degree (or equivalent experience) required. Masters degree is preferred but not required.

YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 8 years required

YEARS OF MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE: 5 years preferred

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Ability to develop complex analysis and cost models to provide key business insights and facilitate informed decision making to develop and implement strategic sourcing/procurement strategies and execution plans.
  • Experience leading sourcing/procurement teams to develop category plans and sourcing strategies execute RFx events and conduct complex contract negotiations required
  • Demonstrated successful contract and agreement negotiation experience managing the entire RFQ/RFP process including development of negotiating plans and strategies is required.
  • Experience and background in fresh food private brand in retail food service or restaurants in the retail environment including experience in sourcing/procurement of products in this space strongly preferred.
  • Other specific to the categories/area of responsibility
  • Proficient with MS Office suite- advanced skills in MS Excel Outlook and PowerPoint.
