Mt. Edgecumbe High School located in Sitka is looking for a Dormitory Attendant

What You Will Be Doing:

This position involves monitoring students during school hours to ensure safety and proper use of facilities. After events you will secure the campus by turning off lights locking doors and cleaning the areas. You will interact with community members to prevent unauthorized individuals from staying on campus. You will also schedule and supervise after-school activities manage concessions vending machines the snack program and sauna access.

Your responsibilities include administering first aid writingaccident and maintenance reports and transporting students to various locations including hospitals. You will help students adjust to boarding school life and build their self-esteem. Additionally you will provide ongoing maintenance of recreation items including but not limited to bicycles weight machines cardio equipment etc. vehicle checks sauna care after-hours maintenance tasks

Mt. Edgecumbe High School is an AdvancED-accredited public boarding school with 430 students from over 100communities throughout Alaska. Most come from communities with schools enrolling fewer than 50 students: approximately 80% are Alaska Native. This diverse population results in a unique and remarkable learning community blending of cultures and beliefs old ways and new- honoring the wisdom of the past while working together to forge the future.

Our school is in Sitka Alaska an island in the southeast peninsula. Transportation in and out of Sitka is by commercial or private airlines the Alaska Marine Highway (ferry system) and boat travel. The year-round population is approximately 8500 people.

Who We Are Looking For:

The ideal candidate will possess some or all of the following knowledge/experience in addition to the minimum qualifications:

Knowledge of and experience working with teenagers.

Experience working with members of the community.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of paid work experience one year of which was dealing with the public.

College education may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
