Job Description

Toast is driven by building the restaurant platform that helps restaurants adapt take control and get back to what they do best: building the businesses they love.

As a Senior Director of FinTech Engineering you will collaborate closely with peers across Toast and connect your teams work to Toasts broader mission. You will help shape product direction through technical insight and you will contribute to the technical roadmap for the evolution of our products. You will grow high performing teams and develop their skills over time. You love finding creative ways to help your teams become more effective & efficient. You are passionate about customer experience and will work closely with product & design counterparts to validate and deliver the customer job-to-be-done. On a given day you might be reviewing solution designs coordinating discussions between partner teams collaborating on roadmaps with architectural and product stakeholders and conducting 1:1s.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive delivery of business outcomes across multiple teams including planning execution and measuring impact
  • Partner closely with Toast FinTech leaders across PM UX Engineering Business Customer Care and Fintech Operations to define actionable valuable work for the team
  • Keep product quality high with continuous delivery improvements in collaboration with TechOps & QA
  • Ensure end-to-end delivery of software including team ownership of monitoring and production issue remediation
  • Incorporate advances in software technology into our solutions to ensure we make best advantage of industry best practices
  • Define and support career development plans for your team
  • Mentor and coach both new and experienced Engineering Managers & Team Leads
  • Grow teams to meet business needs
  • Contribute to building Toasts brand as an innovative high-tech high-growth Restaurant and FinTech leader

Desired Profile:

  • Experience with hiring and developing empowered teams
  • 20 years of experience in building and operating software within SaaS environments including 5 years in leadership or equivalent roles.
  • At least 10 years Experience in payments and fraud prevention is a MUST along with strong engineering expertise
  • Knowledge of the payments ecosystem and PayFac responsibilities and International payments
  • An understanding of building fraud platforms including charge backs.
  • A bias towards action with the ability to balance between getting things done and making things perfect
  • A proven ability to influence decision-making at all levels within an organization
  • A strong sense of empathy for customers and teammates
  • Entrepreneurial mindset comfortable with high growth and developing clarity from ambiguity.
