Your Responsibilities

• Caseload Management: Managing a varied caseload of criminal law matters from police station to Crown Court
• Client Representation: Representing clients at police stations magistrates courts and Crown Court hearings
• Criminal Defence: Handling all aspects of criminal defence including serious and complex cases
• Legal Advisory: Providing expert legal advice to clients during police interviews and court proceedings
• Case Preparation: Preparing case files witness statements and defence strategies
• Professional Liaison: Liaising with barristers CPS probation services and other legal professionals
• Client Relationships: Building strong client relationships through excellent service and advocacy
• Department Development: Contributing to the growth and development of the criminal law department
• Legal Knowledge: Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of criminal law and procedure
• Quality Standards: Ensuring all work meets the firms high standards of legal practice and client care

Essential Requirements

Experience & Qualifications:

• Qualified Solicitor with experience in criminal law practice
• Criminal law expertise with proven track record in defence work
• Court advocacy experience in magistrates courts and Crown Court
• Case management skills with ability to handle varied criminal caseloads

Highly Desirable:

• Police station qualification and duty solicitor accreditation
• Higher Court advocacy rights or willingness to obtain
• Serious crime experience including complex and high-profile cases
• Youth court experience and specialist criminal areas

• Strong advocacy skills and confident courtroom presence
• Excellent communication and client care abilities
• Pressure management with ability to handle urgent matters and tight deadlines
