About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary Full-time Specialist Diversity Equity and Inclusion to join our dynamic Diversity Equity and Inclusion team.

Canadian Blood Services Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) function is responsible for delivering and operationalizing a sustainable DEI strategy and roadmap for the organization. The DEI team works closely with senior leaders employees and stakeholders to advance DEI with intentionality across the organization and within the broader health care landscape.

In this role you will leverage your understanding of DEI to support your manager in the execution of assigned initiatives such as being a resource to the Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) offering practical support and guidance to business owners on specific semi-routine diversity equity and inclusion issues and contribute to the development and delivery of DEI education and training. You will leverage your data analysis skills and training to collect analyze and interpret data to support the advancement of DEI initiatives and program/project effectiveness. You will support the manager DEI and other members of the DEI team in working collaboratively with all components of Canadian Blood Services to create processes and advance initiatives to identify and remove systemic barriers within the organization its programs and operations.

Formula for success

• Leveraging your excellent prioritization skills you will with direction from your manager execute specific DEI and/or reconciliation initiatives providing input to execution plan and communications.
• Drawing on your attention to detail you will review low-impact level communication resources and process changes to ensure DEI principles are considered and integrated.
• Utilizing your strong organizational skills you will support the ERGs to plan and deliver events activities programs and initiatives ensuring meaningful interaction or engagement. You will support your manager in responding to issues that arise within an ERG.
• Focusing on your excellent coordination skills you will support the planning and implementation of the annual ERG symposium.
• Using your strong communication and presentation skills you will design and develop education and learning resources and tools that support DEI education across the organization. You will deliver DEI workshops and training to a variety of audiences.
• You will plan implement and execute cultural observances and DEI initiatives events and programs.
• With the direction and guidance of your manager you will develop metrics and evaluation tools to measure and monitor the effectiveness of DEI and ERG programs and initiatives.
• Concentrating on your analytical skills you will develop and create surveys reports and presentations. Translate and interpret data into written reports charts graphs and tables.
• Performs other related duties as required.
  
  

Desired education and skills

• Completion of post-secondary education in a related subject (for example social science sociology anthropology womens studies Indigenous studies social work human resources management).
• Previous expertise in advancing DEI principles and supporting equity-deserving groups.
• Minimum of 3 years of related professional experience within a complex organization.
• Sound research and analytical skills with the ability to identify recommendations and opportunities from data.
• Previous experience in event and program planning and implementation.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite with in-depth knowledge of Word Excel PowerPoint online collaboration tools (Viva Engage etc.)
• Proficient computer/technical literacy and competency with various business software applications e.g. spreadsheets documents and presentation tools.
• General knowledge of anti-oppression equity diversity anti-racism accessibility/UDL and inclusion principles.
• Demonstrate a high level of personal and professional integrity and commitment to the organization and its values models ethical and respectful and collegial conduct.
• Lived experience as an Indigenous person or member of an equity-deserving group is preferred. Equity-deserving group includes but not limited to racialized persons 2SLGBTQ1A persons and persons living with visible and/or invisible disabilities.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
