The City of Prince Albert is hiring a permanent Journeyperson Electrician is responsible for the general maintenance of all electrical equipment owned and operated by the City.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Lay out assemble install repair and maintain electrical wiring and equipment at City facilities in accordance with Provincial codes and regulations.
- Prepare job cost estimates and assist with preparation of budgets as they relate to electrical repair maintenance and upgrades.
- Prepare a preventative maintenance work schedule for submission to the Supervisor.
- Investigate and requisition equipment parts material and supplies in accordance with City policy.
- Identify electrical systems and equipment requiring preventive maintenance develop an appropriate maintenance and recording system and perform required maintenance.
- Preparation of specifications and drawings for minor electrical projects.
- Troubleshoot and find functional solutions for electrical systems.
- Update and maintain drawings and manuals.
- Update and ensure relevant electrical procedures are communicated to operators.
- Monitors electrical contractors and other employees as required.
- Follow Acts Regulations Bylaws Agreements policies and procedures.
- Follow the Act Regulations and policies of Occupational Health & Safety.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Key Knowledge Technical Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of the standard methods materials tools and equipment of the electrical trade.
- Skill in the use and care of the tools of the trade.
- Knowledge of the electrical code and regulations.
- Ability to prepare cost estimates.
- Ability to locate diagnose and repair malfunctions in electrical systems and equipment.
- Ability to interpret and update electrical drawings.
- Working knowledge of current operating systems spreadsheet word processing and database applications.
- Ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to deal effectively with the public and co-workers.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to keep accurate records and provide recommendations.
Qualifications (Education Training and Experience)
- The successful applicant must have a Grade 12
- possess a valid Journeyperson Electrician Certificate which is recognized in Saskatchewan.
- They must possess and maintain a valid Drivers License.
- Have a minimum of 2 years experience in similar maintenance and repair duties.
