Na Aska Gyilakyoo is located on Kitsumkalum reserve within 15 km of Terrace BC. Our school includes Kindergarten to grade 12 and currently serves 88 students. Tsimshian language and culture is a strong component of school environment along with a dedicated focus to literacy and numeracy. A dedicated staff and respectful student body are evidenced in the continuous growth and achievement.
- Principal Responsibilities
- Leadership : Oversee day-to-day operations establish vision and mission provide leadership and mentorship
- Curriculum and Administration : Manage curriculum scheduling and emergency operations
- Community Engagement : Build relationships with parents teachers staff students and community members
- Student Support : Assess educational and cultural needs Paticipate in creating individual educational plans support behavioral needs
- Teacher Evaluation : Evaluate teacher performance based on various metrics
- Qualifications and Experience
- Education : Minimum Bachelor of education
- BC Teaching Certification
- Experience : At least 5 years of teaching experience curriculum development pedagogy or administration
- Experience in a First Nation school or First Nation education programs
- Demonstrated level of personal professional and organizational integrity and skilled in project management
- Skills : Cross-cultural communication leadership teamwork understanding of First Nations culture and history
- Professional Attitude and Conduct
- Cultural Sensitivity : Understanding and empathy towards First Nations culture and values
- Interpersonal Skills : Ability to build trust and cooperative relationships
