Job Summary

A leading civil contracting firm is now seeking to add to their highly capable and winning Pre-Contracts team and bolster their capability due to the increased pipeline of work coming through. Based in the head office in Auckland and reporting to the Tenders Manager you will be responsible for leading the full tender and submission lifecycle from inception through to submission for multidisciplinary bids ranging from $30M-$100M in value.


Working in a team of Bid Managers Bid Writers Submission Managers and Submission Coordinators you will define the strategy for the bid bringing together the technical inputs from the Estimators and Technical SMEs along with attributes; and craft a rich tapestry of effective messaging that really listens to the clients understands their pain points and addresses their questions in the most well-crafted way possible.

Key aspects of the role include:


  • Overseeing and crafting the Non-Price Attributes of strategic proposals ensuring alignment with client expectations and company objectives.
  • Driving the development of compelling high-quality submissions that reflect competitive positioning and strategic intent.
  • Managing stakeholder engagement across business units subject matter experts and senior leaders.
  • Ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the submissions function to secure profitable work.
  • Where required rolling up the sleeves and writing compelling content to support tender submissions.


To excel in this role you will bring:


  • Proven experience in submission management ideally within construction civil engineering or related industries.
  • Deep understanding of bid strategy competitive positioning and stakeholder management.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex ideas into persuasive content.
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • A proactive collaborative mindset and a drive for continuous improvement.


While based in the head office for a majority of the time you will be required to undertake some domestic travel as part of your role. Depending on the type and scale of the project you may spend time in bid and design offices in other cities usually 1-3 days at a time.


An attractive salary of up to $160k Kiwisaver is on offer for this position.
