Job Summary
Under the direction of management this role carries self-directed responsibility for executing departmental strategies and objectives. The position provides technical expertise to support the design development implementation and verification of new processes and technology as well as continuous improvement to existing ones as directed by site Production Engineering (PE) Management. This role may serve as a corporate resource for Engineering staff and USMS management teams. Independent judgment is expected within the scope of established guidelines.
Essential Responsibilities
The role includes (but is not limited to) the following functions. Some duties may vary depending on the needs of USMS and the strengths of the employee:
Plan coordinate and implement new equipment and technology to drive continuous improvement as assigned by site PE Management.
Develop periodic improvement plans and lead implementation for assigned product areas or technologies focusing on safety quality efficiency and cost.
Provide advanced technical support across departments including downtime analysis troubleshooting and resolution of issues related to processes technology or equipment.
Identify variation in process parameters coordinate data collection and analysis develop action plans verify improvements and report findings to cross-functional teams and management.
Specify source and procure necessary tooling equipment and resources for projects ensuring completion within established timelines and budgets.
Facilitate technology transfer to Production technical staff to support new process launches and continuous improvement.
Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams area management contractors vendors and customers to ensure smooth execution of projects with minimal disruption.
Support business objectives by aligning Production Engineering activities with organisational goals.
Maintain confidentiality and uphold exceptional customer service and professionalism at all levels.
Ensure compliance with safety quality and environmental standards and regulations.
Preferred Technical Focus
High precision mechanical assembly
Wire forming
Welding
Epoxy dispensing
Dimensional/performance measurement systems
Proficiency in machine logic vision systems robotic logic and CAD
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelors degree in an engineering field required (not required if hired as a technician).
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of related experience preferred.
Skills:
Strong interpersonal organisational verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in current company software applications.
Able to perform duties ethically and professionally.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
May include supervisory duties depending on the position.
Working Conditions
Physical Demands:
May be required to sit or stand for extended periods.
Occasionally lift or move up to 40 pounds.
Ability to work 4060 hours per week including weekends and holidays.
Travel Requirements:
Domestic travel: average of less than 3 days per month.
International travel: average of less than 1 week per year.
Work Environment:
Work is split between office and manufacturing areas.
