Position Overview

Shaw Industries is hiring an Industrial Engineer to drive continual improvement at Plant 4 with specific consideration to the improvement of overall production processes productivity and cost.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive continuous improvement by executing facility and departmental strategy particularly in the areas of process improvement financial acumen and project management through project work and data analysis

  • Be a leader on the floor - developing relationships building customer satisfaction and initiating action with plant associates at all levels to improve safety quality and productivity

  • Manage and lead multiple projects from inception to sustained implementation using tools of operational excellence (Six Sigma TPM LSW time studies RCA 5S etc.)

  • Analyze plant financial performance and provide departments with information and tools to understand their performance

  • Create analyze and distribute POVA-related reports (spend labor off-quality chargebacks etc.)

  • Assist IE Manager in monthly forecasting product costing spec changes financial reporting/analysis etc.

  • Assist in the development of Plant 4s business plans ensuring that these goals are being met.

  • Collect analyze and make recommendations through the use of budget processes financial reports (including POVA) and IE tools to drive improvement and cost reductions. Serve as a resource to enhance business acumen within the departments.

  • Work on other process improvement and cost reduction projects as assigned

  • Manage department reports audits Gemba walks etc.

  • Coach and develop members of IE Team

Requirements:

  • 4-year degree required. Industrial Engineering or related degree preferred.

  • Six Sigma Black Belt or the demonstrated ability to acquire

  • Ability to read analyze manipulate and interpret complex data sets and solve complex problems

  • Ability to effectively influence others and build customer satisfaction

  • Strong communication facilitation project management skills

  • Advanced software skills (Excel Minitab Google etc).

Preferred Requirements:

  • 2 years of manufacturing experience

  • Previous IE experience preferred

  • Based upon the experience level of the candidate selected the position may be filled as a Process Improvement Engineer or a Sr. Process Improvement Engineer.
