SEARCH EXTENDED - Advanced Practice Provider - Inpatient Transplant
The University of Illinois Hospital & Clinics (UI Health) is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider - Inpatient Transplant to join their team. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides comprehensive health care for pre-and post-organ transplant patients as determined by scope of practice guidelines and specialty. This includes completion of a health assessment determining diagnosis planning and prescribing treatment within the parameters of medical staff privileges at UI Health and area of expertise. The APP participates in the educational experiences of nursing students medical students residents and other health care disciplines. An APP is a registered APRN or PA-C and holds a masters or doctoral degree. The APP functions as part of the multidisciplinary health team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high-quality cost-effective advanced care to patients within the APPs scope of practice. The APP is required to have and maintain a faculty appointment to receive clinical privileges to practice at the University of Illinois Health System.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Works within the Bylaws of the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System and in adherence to hospital and divisional policy.
- Works collaboratively with other providers in the care of patients.
- Performs an accurate history and physical examination of patients comprehensive or episodic health assessments and develops patient care plans.
- Performs procedures according to clinical delineation of privileges.
- Provides prevention strategies and management of acute and chronic health problems.
- Orders and interprets tests treatments and therapies within the scope of practice.
- Prescribes medications diet supplies prosthetic devices and other home health aides or medication according to clinical privileges.
- May provide other clinical duties within the scope of practice as directed under the emergency operation plan.
- Demonstrates fiscal responsibility to positively impact the financial performance of the organization while ensuring optimal patient care and safety.
- Integrates evidence-based knowledge and clinical expertise in decision-making.
- Participates in peer review and competency assessment activities.
- Establishes an effective relationship with the entire care team.
- May lead and assist in research and evidence-based practice through participant selection coordination of the protocol(s) data collection and other associated activities.
- Demonstrates accountability for professional conduct.
- Advances professionalism by seeking opportunities to develop new skills and to enhance current ones.
- Provides comprehensive teaching strategies for patients and their families.
- May provide education and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students and current and new employees including but not limited to medical staff residents advanced practice providers and nursing.

- Leads multidisciplinary teams to provide integrated delivery of patient care services.
- May participate in the development and revision of protocols or guidelines to reflect evidence-based changes in care management.
- May participate in activities that influence policy-making bodies to improve patient care.
- Provides care for post-operative transplant patients on the transplant service.
- Responsible for management of patients in collaboration with Transplant surgeons intensivists and other Advanced Practice Providers.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from a nationally accredited APRN or PA training program.
- Current National Certification as Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP-BC) Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGACNP-BC) by American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) OR as a Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C) by the Nationally accredited and recognized certifying body Commission on Certification of Physicians Assistants (NCCPA) required.
- Current American Heart Associate Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Current Controlled Substance licensure required.
- Ability to meet all requirements for medical staff privileges.
Preferred Qualifications
- For PAs must have experience in ICU Critical Care or Emergency Medicine preferred.
- For APPs a minimum of 2 years experience working as an Advanced Practice Provider in a surgical setting required. Transplant ICU setting preferred.
- Effective communication skills (oral and written) that facilitate therapeutic relationships between physicians APRN and PA providers as well as multi-disciplinary care team.
- Demonstrated experience in leadership multidisciplinary collaboration interpersonal communication education clinical experience.
- Experience working in an academic medical center preferred.
Salary & Benefits:
Salary: The previously determined salary range for this position was $128818 to $157730.
Final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data internal salary equity candidate experience and qualifications and budget constraints. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the full range for a position.
