Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Professor the Research Scientist will lead a mineral exploration companys effort in an alliance with the college to develop a borehole muon detector designed to detect subsurface mineral deposits. The Research Scientist will work on campus to develop test and then deploy the first version of this detector.
Job Duties
- 25% - Learn how to operate the current borehole detector. - (Essential)
- 25% - Operate and maintain the detector at a remote location. - (Essential)
- 25% - Develop hardware to test out R&D ideas on campus. - (Essential)
- 25% - Coordinate the expansion of any ideas which appear promising. - (Essential)
Minimum Qualifications
- Masters degree in Physics Engineering Math or related field to position duties or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to travel to remote sites to oversee installation and operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word Excel PowerPoint) Google
drives/folders/forms Adobe Acrobat Web Editing and social media applications or any
combination of productivity programs applicable to position responsibilities. - Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and thorough; skilled at anticipating and preventing
potential problems and handling a wide variety of tasks with efficiency and accuracy. Strong
commitment to a quality work product. - Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally in writing and electronically.
- Effective interpersonal skills as evidenced in the ability to collaborate with a variety of constituencies.
- Demonstrated commitment to justice equity inclusion & diversity.

Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate degree in Physics.
- Hands-on experience working with particle detectors.
- Ability to take initiative and drive the rapid development of a novel detector system.
EXPECTED HIRING RANGE: $68640/yr-70000/yr

Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the base salary range for the role.
