Job Description
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in North Yorkshire to assist with the appointment of an eCrime Enforcement Officer on a 3.5-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: 16.05 - 20.14 per hour
Summary:
North Yorkshire Council is seeking a motivated eCrime Enforcement Officer to support the National Trading Standards eCrime Team (NTSeCT). The core focus of the role is to investigate disrupt and prevent consumer harm caused by illegal online trading activities including counterfeit goods illicit tobacco and online fraud.
The postholder will work closely with trading standards teams across England and Wales and external partners such as Police and HMRC to ensure intelligence is properly captured and acted upon. For senior grades responsibilities include leading projects mentoring colleagues and overseeing complex investigations.
This is a hybrid largely desk-based role with occasional travel for operational assignments meetings and disruption work which may involve unsocial hours.
Responsibilities:
- Investigate incidences of e-crime including cross-region or national significance cases.
- Undertake online disruption work including on websites social media and other platforms hosting harmful content.
- Lead or contribute to national and regional projects on online enforcement.
- Mentor and train junior staff in open-source investigations digital evidence handling and disruption work.
- Collaborate with trading standards teams across England and Wales.
Qualifications:
- Degree or equivalent in a technical subject (e.g. Computer Studies Digital Forensics) or relevant enforcement experience.
Experiences:
- Experience of investigating online crime fraud or trading standards offences.
- Experience in preparing intelligence products and maintaining evidence in compliance with ACPO guidelines.
Requirements:
- Working knowledge of computer hardware software and digital forensics.
- Strong investigative and analytical skills with the ability to draw conclusions from multiple sources.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presenting evidence in court.
- Proficiency in IT and open-source research techniques (OSINT).
- Ability to work under pressure and manage challenging situations.
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting welfare for children young people and adults.
