DescriptionServes as a Floor Care Worker specializing in the operation of floor care products and equipment. Carries out the schedule established by the Special Services Supervisor. Handles routine custodial duties.
ResponsibilitiesEXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Engages in special projects and floor care maintenance.
- Works as a group member of building service floor care team by following the work schedules and procedures and meeting established standards at various locations within a designated area.
- Cleans lubricates adjusts and performs other such preventive maintenance on floor care equipment as may be directed by the floor care leader. Demonstrates the proper use of equipment and the safe handling and use of cleaning supplies and materials.
- Performs all custodial functions required to maintain a clean and safe school environment including but not limited to sweeping scrubbing waxing polishing deodorizing collecting and removing trash etc.
- Works independently receiving little direct supervision.
- Assures area meets established standards of cleanliness and effects minor repairs.
- Operates and maintains the proper use and care of assigned equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education Training and Experience:
- Possession of a high school diploma or an appropriate equivalent. Two years of equivalent or related work.
Licenses and Certifications
- Possession of a valid class C Maryland drivers license or an equivalent is required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of floor care practices and equipment.
- Ability to interpret operating instructions specializing in the operation and maintenance of floor care products. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to travel to various locations. Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
- Skill in operating a wide variety of floor care equipment.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
- Requires frequent intervals of considerable effort to lift carry and empty containers of floor care products trash cans move furniture load and unload equipment tools and supplies. Duties require frequent walking stooping and reaching. Work is generally non-hazardous but failure to exercise reasonable care while lifting or positioning floor care equipment and products and walking on treated floors could result in some personal injury.
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Retirement: Eligible for the Baltimore County Employees Retirement System.

Regular Rate: Grade 02 on the AFSCME Pay Scale $15.66 to $22.44 per hour
