Role description:
Arcadis is seeking a Cut and Cover Structural Engineering Lead to join the Fraser River Tunnel Project team. The successful candidate will be responsible for all technical aspects of the projects cut and cover structural engineering services including ensuring technical contract compliance and maintaining the highest standards of product quality and design approvals. Reporting to the Design Manager this leader will provide technical guidance to the design team and will be accountable for the overall delivery of all technical outputs and design documentation within the discipline. The Cut and Cover Structural Engineering Lead will play a critical role in ensuring quality consistency and compliance across all stages of design and construction for the projects cut and cover elements.
Role accountabilities:
In this role you will provide technical leadership and direction in your field of discipline supporting Package Owners to expedite the scope of works and deliver high-quality outcomes. You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the discipline design teams under the guidance of the Zone Design Manager ensuring effective work packaging and resource allocation. This includes reviewing designs at every DEWA stage managing discipline deliverables and ensuring that quality assurance verification and approvals meet project standards. Your role will also involve supporting the production of reports providing subject matter expertise and maintaining thorough oversight of project objectives including time budget and quality.
You will play a critical part in facilitating collaboration and effective liaison with other disciplines stakeholders and third-party reviewers such as provincial and municipal authorities. By conducting functional and technical reviews of design packages prior to release and reviewing completed verification forms you will ensure compliance and support the progressive writing of final reports. Maintaining a strong focus on compliance you will address design nonconformances review the suitability of incoming information and ensure due consideration of workplace health safety and environmental issues throughout the design process.
As part of your leadership you will also be responsible for ensuring that Package Owners and design teams have a sound understanding of DEWA DBA and Design Services Agreement requirements. You will engage with the Verification Team to manage reviews efficiently participate in interdisciplinary reviews and work closely with the Design Manager and Zone Design Managers for project-wide consistency and decisive decision-making. Additionally you will develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including the Design-Builder TICorp provincial representatives and Design-Builder Design Managers promoting effective communication and collaboration.
Your accountability extends to authorizing design changes coordinating the resolution of design queries and supporting the wellbeing of your team. You will identify and manage technical risks including non-compliances scope changes and variations ensuring all activities comply with contractual and design management plan requirements. Overseeing the Safety in Design process you will appoint SiD Champions and coordinate with Systems Assurance Requirements and Integration Management. Ultimately you will provide solutions to complex technical issues facilitate the checking review and verification process and work proactively to ensure that all design packages within your discipline are delivered on program meet technical standards and align with project objectives.
