As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician you will carry out maintenance on mechanical equipment on our Advanced Anaerobic Digestion and Wastewater assets. You will:

  1. Maintain repair and install equipment as part of the MEI team to work individually or as part of a team. Be able to fault-find rectify problems with mechanical systems and all ancillary equipment.
  2. Install maintain and repair mechanical systems generally to ensure performance of all assets
  3. Demonstrate an ability to read understand and work from mechanical drawings.
  4. Maintaining a general knowledge and participating in training and knowledge sessions on the AAD and Wastewater treatment process.
  5. Actively take part in Risk Assessment COSHH assessment and all related Health and Safety issues.
  6. Identify problematic plant and the subsequent faults and to take part in finding efficient solutions to return equipment to working order.
  7. Identify requirement of spares and materials using preferred suppliers.
  8. Completion of all job cards and timesheets to allow for monitoring of workload performance etc.
  9. Provide knowledge information and provide onsite support for DCWW Operational Teams fellow DCWW Craft Members and other Stakeholders.

  • Advice and support from the wider DCWW support functions
  • Liaison with local Distribution or Network Teams

External

  • Liaison and co-ordination of suppliers and contractors
  • Liaison with NRW/EA Regulators and other stakeholders

About you

Knowledge Skills & Experience

  • A recognised apprenticeship in mechanical or dual skilled engineering to at least NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • An excellent understanding of planning and scheduling of work processes.
  • The ability to develop positive working relationships and to be seen as a highly credible representative of the team is required for this role.
  • Ability to take responsibility make decisions and uses initiative working proactively.
  • Solution focused approach to resolving problems.
  • Critical thinking to be able to analyse information and provide a solution to situation effectively.
  • Communication and ability to influence others.

Good to know

  • Site based work covering Cardiff.
  • The successful candidate will be required to participate in a standby rota and complete 260 hours of Planned Work Time.
  • A company van will be provided for business use.
  • Shift pattern Mon - Thurs 7am - 3pm Fri 7am 2.30pm.
