Job Title: Staff Engineer Wealth Conversion & Migration
Location: Toronto Hybrid
Mode: Contract
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Staff Engineer to lead the technical execution of
data conversion and migration for a large-scale wealth management transformation program.
This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless transition of client account and transactional data
from legacy platforms to modernized systems with a focus on scalability accuracy and
regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end data conversion and migration strategy for wealth platforms including
planning design development validation and execution.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including delivery leads architecture QA and
business stakeholders to define migration requirements and success criteria.
Design and implement scalable fault-tolerant migration pipelines using modern data
engineering tools and practices.
Ensure data integrity lineage and reconciliation across multiple systems during and postmigration.
Drive automation and repeatability in conversion processes to support multiple dry runs
and production cutovers.
Identify and mitigate risks related to data quality mapping transformation logic and
system dependencies.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers across multiple agile teams.
Partner with vendors and external consultants to align on migration tooling standards
and execution timelines.
Maintain strong documentation and audit trails to support regulatory and operational
reviews.
Required Qualifications
10 years of experience in software engineering or data engineering with at least 3 years
in a staff/principal engineer capacity.
Proven experience in large-scale data migration/conversion projects preferably in wealth
management or financial services.
Deep understanding of data modeling ETL/ELT pipelines and data governance
principles.
Hands-on experience with tools such as strong proficiency in scripting and cloud-native
data platforms engineering.
Familiarity with wealth domain data structures (e.g. client profiles holdings
transactions tax etc).
Excellent problem-solving communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification in cloud platforms or data engineer
