Job Description
Pioneer of online flash sales since 2001 and key player in European e-commerce Veepee collaborates with over 7000 brands to offer highly discounted products available for a limited time. Operating across various sectors including fashion home wine travel or beauty... Veepee achieved a turnover of 3.2 billion euros incl. VAT in 2024 and employs 5000 staff members across 10 countries.
As a data engineer you will join one of our Data Science Teams and distributed between Paris Barcelona and Brussels. The teams responsibility lies in providing forecasts to operational and business entities within Veepee driving high-priority projects around product pricing product ranking warehouse efficiency and search.
Your mission will be to support the team in building data pipelines deploying machine learning models on a mixed cloud/on-premise architecture leveraging LLMs and developing microservices to expose ML-based predictions to customer-facing products.
Responsibilities:
- Develop deploy and maintain high-load APIs on Kubernetes with strong SLA requirements and high business value
- Version deploy and monitor machine learning models at scale
- In the context of machine learning projects develop and maintain data pipelines and ensure data quality
- Identify design and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes optimizing code and data delivery re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability etc
- Keep improving your technical knowledge and expertise by animating the Veepee data engineering community attending conferences contributing to open-source projects organizing and attending meetups.
Requirements:
- At least 5 years of experience in software engineering preferably in the data field
- Strong knowledge of Java SQL and Python
- Experience with data processing technologies like Apache Beam (or Flink) Spark Kafka etc. is a plus.
- Experience with distributed data systems: No-SQL databases (e.g. BigTable) Trino data lakes (e.g. BigQuery) storage (e.g. GCS / S3)
- Used to work in a cloud environment (GCP AWS Azure...)
- Familiar with the concepts of microservice architecture.
- Prior experience with deploying containers on a platform like Kubernetes and its ecosystem is a big plus
- Proficiency with version control Git
- Experience with tools like dbt is a plus
- Interest in machine learning and data analytics
- A strong team player willing to share knowledge with other team members and help out where needed
- Strong verbal and written English language skills.
