Assistant Professor Biology The Biology Department at Hanover College invites applicants for a 9-month full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor with specialization in cell and/or microbiology to start August 2026.A Ph.D. in Biology or a related field is required; A.B.D. will be considered but the degree must be earned prior to the start date. Undergraduate teaching experience is preferred but the department strongly encourages all candidates with a passion for teaching in a liberal arts environment to apply. We welcome a colleague who will join a thriving and supportive department that is deeply committed to student success. The successful applicant will teach lecture and lab for Cell Biology (upper-level) Microbiology the introductory course sequence for majors and an upper-level course designed and based on the candidates specialization (e.g. Immunology Virology Parasitology). Applicants with experience working with eukaryotic organisms (yeast protists) are strongly encouraged to apply and preference will be for an individual using cellular techniques in their applicant should demonstrate the potential to develop a research program involving undergraduate students in a liberal arts addition to teaching and research service to the department and the community through participation in academic advising and in committee service will be expected. The selected candidate will have a dedicated laboratory space for teaching and research as well as necessary equipment to perform basic and advanced studies with students including cell culture (plate reader shaking incubator CO2 incubator) NanoDrop spectrophotometer gel documentation equipment micropipettes western blot rigs and stereo compound fluorescent and inverted will be based on each candidates record of previous accomplishments relevant to these responsibilities their potential to contribute to the continued growth and success of the department and their potential to advance the institutions goal of creating a positive and inclusive campus climate.
