This position supports individuals in the the Lake Washington school district and surrounding neighborhoods.

About Us
PROVAILwas founded in 1942 by parents of children with cerebral palsy. They created some of the first community services for individuals with cerebral palsy and other severe disabilities in the area. Our mission is supporting people with disabilities to fulfill their life choices. We help people decide how they want to live their life in the community and then provide the support services they need to act on those choices. We are one of the states largest private multi-service agencies dedicated to meeting the needs of children and adults with all types of disabilities.

What youll do:

  • Partner with schools to create real community jobs for students with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
  • Develop individualized community-based work experience sites internships and paid job placements when appropriate for students in the project and monitor students development of vocational skills and interests.
  • Meet with students and teachers for assessment planning and goal setting.
  • Negotiate customized jobs at community businesses and provide initial on-the-job training.
  • Provide students and their families with information about training on social security benefits earned income employment services and funding after school.
  • Your goal is that each student leaves school with a job knowing they have a valued place in your community!

What youll bring:

  • Degree in business marketing communication social work education or related field preferred. Prior experience working with people with disabilities in a community setting may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • One year of experience working with people with developmental disabilities in the adult employment service sector evaluating vocation skills and developing and supporting successful paid employment opportunities.
  • Prior experience in teaching special education or teaching certification is preferred.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to drive for work including valid drivers license in good standing and proof of auto insurance.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills.
  • Professional collaborative and outcome-driven approach.
  • Proven skills in networking and marketing. Previous experience with job development is preferred.
  • Due to contractual requirements all staff must successfully undergo a Washington State DSHS background check.
