Job Description:
Student Worker Position Student Services
Location: Baylor University Student Services Office
Position Summary: This role provides administrative and operational support to the Student Services department focusing on delivering a positive experience for visitors and supporting staff. This role includes desk duties campus tours event support and general administrative tasks. Ideal candidates will have strong organizational skills a proactive attitude and the ability to maintain a professional demeanor while representing Baylor.
Responsibilities:
Front Desk Management: Maintain a clean organized desk area; be at the desk during shifts except for lunch breaks bathroom breaks giving tours or assisting staff with projects.
Visitor Assistance: Welcome visitors answer questions give campus tours and help students with inquiries.
Communication: Answer phone calls respond to general email inquiries transfer calls as needed and utilize Teams for communications.
Support Staff: Offer assistance to Student Services staff at the beginning of each shift; perform administrative tasks and event preparation.
Events: Assist with alumni reunions pinning ceremonies Preview Day and similar events.
Clock In/Out: Sign in on the computer and manage timecards accurately; follow lunch break policies (1-hour lunch for full shifts none for half-day shifts).
Locker Assignment: Support students with locker assignments including documentation and lock handling.
Requirements:
Attire: Baylor University t-shirt and jeans with close-toed work-appropriate shoes. Only Baylor outerwear or neutral attire without logos allowed. No sweatpants pajamas or unapproved footwear.
Professional Conduct: Maintain a positive and respectful work environment adhere to proper hygiene and prioritize work tasks.
Work Ethic: Commit to scheduled shifts. This is a work-first role; studying is allowed if time permits.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with Baylors campus and student culture.
Strong communication skills and a customer-service-oriented mindset.
Experience with Microsoft Teams and basic email and phone operations is helpful though training will be provided.
Compensation: This position offers an hourly wage and opportunities to participate in Student Services events for additional paid hours.
