    POSITION SUMMARY:
    This position is responsible for the professional environmentally friendly and safe maintenance of all grounds and landscape throughout district approximately 11 facilities. Ensure all facilities represent community pride of Englewood Schools to the public view. Responsibilities include but are not limited to trash removal irrigation installation and maintenance fertilization mowing aeration planting weed eating grass trimming pruning of brush and trees weed and pest control painting lines parking and grass and snow/ice removal. Develop and promote good community relations among stakeholders.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Operate and maintain all exterior maintenance equipment in a safe and orderly manner.
    • Repair and replace irrigation.
    • Monitor irrigation for appropriate use of resources leaks over-saturation or lack of coverage adjusting when necessary.
    • Maintain and perform monthly preventative maintenanceon grounds vehicles gaters and lawnmowers.
    • Mow edge weed-eat fertilize and aerate all grounds.
    • Inspect grounds for safety concerns and report or repair as needed.
    • Make recommendations and implement landscape improvements.
    • Remove debris/clippings (grass limbs plugs fertilizer) from walkways.
    • Remove and recycle dead trees plants and flowers; establish and maintain new ones.
    • Establish and maintain a healthy compost pile.
    • Prune trees and brush.
    • Wrap and unwrap trees to protect against harsh winter weather.
    • Pick up trash found in exterior areas.
    • Remove snow and ice using truck tractor or manual labor.
    • Maintain or re-establish cobble and mulch in designated areas.
    • Utilize environmental and district resources appropriately for their intended use.
    • Assist with community gardens when requested.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders on the design layout for striping parking lots athletic fields and other required areas; implement plan.
    • Actively participate in meetings in-service and other required training.
    • Apply and implement knowledge skills and new understandings to support Operations Maintenance and Transportation.
    • Serve as substitute for Head Custodians when required.
    • Inspect and repair playground equipment as needed.
    • May be responsible for additional duties such as facility painting and other maintenance tasks.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

    EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
    High School Graduate or equivalent. Five (5) years of grounds keeping experience (preferred). Demonstrated experience with riding and push mowers tractors mower attachments hedgers trimmers blowers paint machines pesticide spray machines. Demonstrated experience with hand tools such as shovels picks rakes post-hole diggers trenchers etc. English fluency will be determined through the interview process.

    LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
    Valid Colorado Drivers License.
    Must maintain driving record that meets the standards of the District insurance policy.

    ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Frequent lifting 5 (five) to 75 (seventy-five) pounds.
    Occasional lifting of up to 150 (one hundred fifty) pounds.
    Frequent to constant sitting standing bending squatting reaching walking digging and stooping.
    Occasional sitting crawling climbing kneeling.
    Visual concentration.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    Frequent exposure to dirt dust odors and fumes.
    Occasional exposure to hazardous materials.
    Occasional exposure to adverse climate and weather conditions.

    REPORTS TO:
    Operations & Maintenance Supervisor or Director of Operations & Maintence.

    LOCATION:
    Duell Service Center

    SALARY:
    Hourly rate from $23.62 to $26.73 per hour depending upon education and related experience.

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
    New hires or rehires will be responsible for the fingerprint processing fee required for background checks through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
