Job Summary

The Escheatment Senior Specialist is responsible for managing the escheatment and unclaimed property process in compliance with state and federal regulations. This role ensures the accurate and timely reporting remittance and reconciliation of unclaimed property while minimizing risk and maintaining regulatory compliance. The specialist serves as the subject matter expert on escheatment laws and coordinates with internal departments and external agencies as needed.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

This is a Hybrid In Office/Remote Position

To be effective an individual must be able to perform each job duty successfully.

  • Design and implement proactive strategies to reduce escheatable accounts aligning with long-term organizational goals and regulatory expectations.

  • Research and assess account statuses to determine eligibility for escheatment

  • Develop and maintain dashboards and analytics tools that provide real-time insights into escheatment trends and performance metrics.

  • Analyze complex datasets to identify trends measure outreach effectiveness and provide actionable insights to leadership for continuous improvement.

  • Ensure enterprise-wide alignment with evolving regulatory requirements through training documentation and policy updates.

  • Design and oversee reporting frameworks to identify operational efficiencies and evaluate outreach effectiveness providing actionable insights to leadership.

  • Perform reconciliations of escheatment related general ledger accounts ensuring accuracy completeness and audit readiness.

  • Prepare and complete the submission of state unclaimed property reports ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation and governance of escheatment policies and procedures.

  • Serve as a liaison between Legal Accounting Operations and Member Services to resolve discrepancies and support escheatment processing activities.

  • Lead due diligence outreach efforts in compliance with statutory requirements.

  • Manage post-escheatment claim processing and member inquiries with professionalism and accuracy.

  • Identify opportunities for automation and workflow enhancements. Champion initiatives that improve efficiency reduce risk and elevate the member experience.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS and ABILITIES

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelors degree preferably in Business Accounting Finance OR 3 years additional combined progressive experience in a financial setting. Education must be from an accredited institution. Education and work experience will be verified.

  • 4 years working in the financial industry

  • 2 years of experience in escheatment unclaimed property or regulatory compliance. (preferred)

  • Experience with multi-state escheatment reporting is highly desirable. (preferred)

Computer/Office Equipment Skills

  • Demonstrated proficient skills with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook Work PowerPoint

  • Demonstrate advanced excel proficiency; including pivot tables charts and complete formulas

  • Experience with unclaimed property software (HRS Pro) is preferred

  • Experience with Symitar or other financial systems

Language Skills

Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing

Demonstrated ability to read and follow instructions

  • Strong knowledge of unclaimed property laws and escheatment processes.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
