QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Requires a Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. At all times during employment with the Court must be an attorney properly admitted to the practice of law in Ohio be in active status and in good standing. Demonstrated ability to provide expertise and leadership typically acquired through seven (7) to ten (10) or more years of progressive professional experience in the Court or similar organization.

The Supreme Court of Ohio is seeking to fill the position of Clerk of the Court in the Office of the Clerk. The Clerk of the Court is responsible for leading the strategic and administrative activities of the Office of the Clerk and overseeing the performance of the duties of the office.

What Youll Do:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Office Leadership: Direct all aspects of the division managing and leading assigned staff developing and implementing division objectives and collaborating with internal and external leaders to achieve long-term Court objectives.
  • Goal Setting & System Management: Establish goals and priorities for the Office of the Clerk; evaluate plan and manage systems programs and procedures to meet objectives and ensure division functions effectively.
  • Policy Advice & Proposals: Advise the Court on the Office of the Clerks functions and policy matters including rule amendments and service improvements for internal and external customers. Propose and implement solutions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Initiate and supervise improvements for case filing workflow and disposition processes. Manage case management systems including e-filing online docket case notifications and website information.
  • Record Management: Oversee all aspects of record processing retention storage retrieval and coordination with the state archives. Assign review monitor and assess the work of subordinate staff.
  • Budget Management: Manage the divisions annual budget propose budget requirements identify new funding areas adjust budget allotments as needed and maintain operations within budget limits.
  • Fund Management: Manage fees and other funds.

STAFF SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position directly supervises the Chief Deputy Clerk and Case Management Counsels while overseeing the Office of the Clerk. As a supervisor this position is responsible for overseeing recruitment and onboarding processes providing coaching and feedback to team members managing performance issues conducting performance evaluations and fostering a collaborative and productive work environment to ensure team success.


Supplemental Information:
This is an exempt unclassified position that reports to the Deputy Administrative Director Legal Services. The salary range is $160000-$163000.
