Job Overview
Histotechnician Responsibilities & Duties
- Prepare and stain tissue samples using techniques such as H&E immunohistochemistry and special staining
- Analyze tissue samples using microscopy and other diagnostic tools
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment and instrumentation
- Ensure compliance with laboratory procedures quality control standards and regulatory requirements
- Maintain accurate and complete records of tissue preparation analysis and results
Histotechnician Qualifications & Skills
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Histotechnology or related field
- Minimum of 24 credit hours of biology and chemistry with at least six being in chemistry
- Experience in a clinical or research laboratory setting
- Proficiency in advanced staining techniques such as immunohistochemistry
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
- Prefer 2 years of experience in histotechnology laboratory setting
- Strong understanding of histotechnology techniques procedures and regulations
- Excellent organizational time-management and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
