Job Description

About the Role:

The Benefits Specialist plays a critical role in managing and administering employee benefit programs within a healthcare technology company. This position ensures that all benefit plans including health disability and leave programs are effectively communicated and administered in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. The specialist acts as a key resource for employees and management providing guidance on benefits options eligibility and claims processes while maintaining strict confidentiality of sensitive information. By collaborating with internal teams and external vendors the Benefits Specialist helps optimize benefit offerings to support employee well-being and organizational goals. Ultimately this role contributes to a positive employee experience by ensuring seamless benefits administration and compliance with applicable laws such as ADA FMLA and workers compensation regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in human resources Business Administration or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in benefits administration or a similar HR role.
  • Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now or comparable HRIS platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of employee benefits programs
  • Familiarity with ADA FMLA and other relevant employment laws and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certification such as Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP.
  • Experience working in the healthcare industry.
  • Advanced skills in data analysis and benefits reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with benefits communication and employee training initiatives.
  • Experience working with a self-insured group

Responsibilities:

  • Administer and manage employee benefit plans including health insurance 401k and disability plans.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding benefits inquiries eligibility and claims resolution.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee benefits records using ADP Workforce Now and other HRIS systems.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Coordinate with insurance carriers third-party administrators and internal departments to resolve claims and process benefits changes.
  • Provide training and communication materials to employees and management about benefits programs and policy updates.
  • Support audits and reporting related to benefits administration and compliance.

Skills:

The required skills are utilized daily to ensure the accurate administration and communication of employee benefit plans. Expertise in benefits administration allows the specialist to manage complex programs. Maintaining confidentiality is critical when handling sensitive employee information and claims ensuring trust and legal adherence. Proficiency with Workforce Now enables efficient record-keeping and benefits tracking streamlining processes and reporting. Knowledge of ADA FMLA and workers compensation laws ensures that the specialist can navigate regulatory requirements effectively providing sound guidance to employees and management while mitigating organizational risk.
