Overview

The DSA/MID Ambassador teams play a vital role in living our organizations mission: to create a healthy vibrant downtown for all. All Ambassadors are stewards of the public realm and help to make it an inviting and welcoming place for all. All Ambassador teams work with the following priority framework focusing on the three Cs: Clean Clear and Cared for. This means that all employees strive to maintain a visually appealing and safe environment for all by resolving clutter and disarray and caring for all people in the public realm in a friendly and positive manner. The downtown public realm should be high quality and consistent demonstrated through attentive oversight of the details in the public realm space and genuine care and concern for the people in the space.

Position Overview

The Clean Team Trainer will be responsible for providing training to clean ambassadors. The Trainer will also be active in the public realm providing core services to ensure the cleanliness of the public rights-of-way and to collaborate will all MID teams on a daily basis.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide training to team members on a variety of positions specific. requirements and duties to learn improve and enhance skills.
  • Suggest training opportunities and/ or equipment to increase ambassador efficiency.
  • Provide regular check-ins with trainees to ensure daily tasks are being met to organizational standards.
  • Evaluate training by evaluating effectiveness of training to specific job.
  • Assist supervisory staff in analyzing and creating individual development plans for each trainee.
  • Recommend necessary revisions to existing training courses.
  • Assigned to maintain a specific work area of 8 to 12 blocks in size.
  • Identify and report city or MID related issues such as litter or graffiti using a handheld device.
  • Identify and report conditions that adversely impact the downtown area or those living working or visiting the downtown area.
  • Monitors employee activities to ensure performance standards and productivity levels are maintained. These patrols are provided by walking driving a vehicle or riding a bike/trike.
  • Assist the supervisory staff with input regarding formal performance evaluationsand employee work habits to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Provide sanitation cleanup of alleys and sidewalks on foot and/or while operating mechanized Rad Power Trike.
  • Sweep and remove litter from sidewalks curbs and other areas of public spaces.
  • Remove debris from curb lines to prevent obstruction to the storm drains.
  • Locate and remove graffiti from buildings sidewalks and street fixtures.
  • Provide customer service to visitors businesspeople merchants and residents of downtown.
  • Communicate with coworkers and supervisors via radio dispatch to report location cleanups and facilitate problems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to work in all public spaces in the downtown area.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Required to maintain a clean and neat appearance.
  • Must be able to pass a bicycle riding assessment with emphasis on low riding speed.
  • Customer service focus: previous experience preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of downtown Seattle and its community a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of maintenance equipment is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of Window MS Word Excel and Outlook is a plus.
  • Valid Washington State Drivers License preferred as well as able to be insured by organization insurance carrier.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Work Environment - Work outdoors for the entirety of each shift in all weather conditions handling potentially hazardous waste.

Physical Demands - Standing walking bending sitting 8-10 hours a day holding carrying and operating leaf vacuums blowers and power washers. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Operating ATLVs and Green Machines.

Schedule

Tuesday- Saturday Tuesday-Friday 6:30 am 3 pm Saturday 7 am- 3:30 pm

Employment Details

DSA is committed to internal and market equity. The hourly range for this position is $24.00-$30.00. Salary is determined based on internal and market equity internal and market data/salary ranges and the applicants job-related knowledge skills and experience. We will hire at the beginning of the salary range to allow future salary growth based on an employees performance professional development and increases in responsibilities and duties.
