Overview:
Nationwide Childrens Hospital seeks a full-time Pediatric Perfusionist to join our collaborative team. This salaried role shares on-call responsibilities equitably across the team utilizing two-person call and an N1 staffing model.

Essential Functions:
- Monitors the patients physiological parameters during cardiac surgery.
- Operates and maintains the heart-lung machine and other equipment used during surgery.
- Administers medications and blood products as directed by the surgeon.
- Documents all procedures and interventions performed during surgery.
- Participates in on-call responsibilities and serves as a clinical preceptor to cardiovascular perfusion students.
- Collaborates and coordinates care with physicians nurses and other healthcare professionals including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and mechanical circulatory support (MCS) teams.
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives professional societies continuing educational programs and clinical and academic research in conjunction with physicians and surgeons to advance medical and perfusion technology.
Education Requirement:
- Bachelors Degree in relevant field with a strong science background and advanced training in cardiovascular perfusionat a CAHEP accredited perfusion training program required.
- Masters Degree preferred.
Certifications:
Must be certification eligible and actively pursuing certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion and attain and maintain certification within the first year of employment.
Skills:
- Knowledge of principles and techniques of circulation technology.
- Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to work with hospital employees physicians patients family members and community professionals.
- Exceptional critical thinking skills and ability to respond quickly to problem-solving situations.
- Ability to handle high levels of stress and pressure in emergency situations.
Experience:
- Pediatric Perfusion experience preferred.
- Experience with ECMO MCS and VADs preferred.
