Serves patients physicians and associates through accurate timely and courteous completion of Neurodiagnostic tests and communication of test results to ordering practitioners in a professional and competent manner.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Perform adequate and interpretable EEGs and EPs on a wide variety of patients. These include outpatients and inpatients; patients ranging in age to include infants pediatrics adolescents adults and geriatrics; and patients varying in degree of disability and seriousness of illness.
  • Use common sense and special medical skills to care for the sick or handicapped with regard to the patients age and diagnosis.
  • Maintain neurodiagnostic laboratory and equipment so that they are functioning safely and at the level of quality control needed.
  • Arrange for transportation of patients to and from the laboratory as needed or perform portable tracings when necessary.
  • Know correct procedures to use when obtaining special recordings i.e. electrocerebral silence recordings.
  • Correspond and communicate with physicians and in-house medical and nursing staff as needed to maintain good relations.
  • Coordinate schedule with supervisor of department to handle periods of excessive testing requests.
  • Periodic ordering of necessary supplies for neurodiagnostic laboratory functions.
  • Develop knowledge of common disorders that affect the various recordings.
  • Enter appropriate charges into the hospitals computer system.
  • Assists department manager in quality control and maintenance programs to ensure proper test results. Take appropriate action to correct any discrepancies.
  • Meets established guidelines for educational in-services as designed by department head.

Education and Experience Required:

  • You must be Registered EEG Technologist or meet the ABRET requirements to attain your Registered EEG Credential
  • Enrolled in an accredited program
  • New graduates will have one (1) year to attain Certification

Mandatory Licensure/Certifications:

  • ABRET Board Certified
