Step 2: ORAL BOARD INTERVIEW The Goodyear Police Department is excited to offer the iSWIFT process (Individually Scheduled Wiki Interview and Fitness Testing). iSWIFT gives applicants the flexibility to work directly with our recruiting team to choose interview and fitness testing dates that fit their schedule. Initial interviews can be completed either virtually via Microsoft Teams or in person making the process especially convenient for out-of-state applicants. This process is designed not only to be convenient but also to expedite the hiring timeline by several weeks. All qualified applicants will participate in an interview conducted by a panel composed of officers and employees of the Goodyear Police Department. During this stage applicants will be evaluated on: Applicants who successfully pass this step will move forward to Step 3 of the process. CHIEF INTERVIEW All applicants will have a one-on-one interview with the Police Chief. Step 4: FIREARMS QUALIFICATIONS All lateral applicants will be required to demonstrate firearms proficiency by successfully passing the AZPOST daylight qualification course of fire. PHYSICAL AGILITY EVALUATION (Out-of-state applicants only) The physical fitness evaluation is designed to give the applicant a chance to demonstrate his/her physical condition. The Goodyear Police Department uses the Police Officer Physical Aptitude Test (POPAT).All qualified applicants will be required to complete a liability waiver prior to participating in the physical agility evaluation. To proceed the applicant needs to successfully pass the physical agility evaluation. The physical evaluation consists of the following: Police Officer Physical Aptitude Test (POPAT) *In-state laterals are exempt from taking the POPAT All communication regarding application status and interview notifications will be sent via email- please monitor your junk/spam email for communication as messages will come from a system generated source.

Step 3: Work with Background Investigator
Applicants will work with a background investigator to complete the following steps 3 through step 4.
BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION
After successful completion of the oral board interview applicants continuing in the process will be given a background packet to initiate the extensive background investigation.
POLYGRAPHEXAMINATION
Applicants will be given a polygraph examination administered by a qualified state licensed police polygraph examiner. The examination will cover criminal activity drug usage truthfulness integrity and employment history.
PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION (Out-of- state applicants only)
The psychological evaluation consists of two parts: series of written tests and an interview with a certified psychologist.
CONTROLLED SUBSTANCESCREENING AND MEDICAL EVALUATION
Applicants will be required to submit to a controlled substance screening and medical examination.
Applicants will work with the background investigator to schedule a date to complete the POPATduring a visit to Goodyear Arizona for background processing.
