SIUE Police Servicesis currently seeking to fill vacancies forLATERAL TRANSFER Police Officer(s) through open recruitment. The SIUE Police Department is a community-oriented law enforcement agency that comprises of certified law enforcement officers and civilian employees. They have full investigatory and arrest powers granted by Illinois law. The department is open and accessible to the university community 24/7 with its own telecommunication unit. The SIUE Police Department operates with the philosophy of providing a safe and secure campus environment which includes conducting routine patrols and enforcing both criminal and traffic statutes of Illinois. The primary responsibility of SIUE Police Officers is to protect life and property through enforcement of laws ordinances and University rules and regulations. They also provide various service-related needs for the university community such as safety escorts and vehicle lock-outs.Patrol University communities (Edwardsville East St. Louis and Alton) by car or on foot.
Control and assist the movement of vehicles and pedestrian traffic by physically directing traffic.
Respond to requests for non-enforcement service assistance to the University Communities.
Identify investigate and report hazards that might endanger the public safety and/or University physical plant spaces or equipment.
Assist other local law enforcement agencies as needed.
