Job Description

Data Governance Subject Matter Expert

The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Data Governance Subject Matter Expert to join the team in Seattle WA or El Segundo CA.

As the Data Governance Subject Matter Expert you will lead the design implementation and operationalization of Boeings enterprise data governance program for aviation initiatives with a strong focus on regulatory and contractual controls including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) Export Administration Regulations (EAR) Global Trade Controls (GTC) and Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs). You will serve as the trusted advisor to program managers legal teams export compliance contracts security and Information Technology (IT) departments and business ownersguiding data classification stewardship and lifecycle policies to ensure compliance security and operational excellence. Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop maintain and operationalize enterprise data governance policies standards and processes (data classification data ownership metadata retention stewardship)

  • Define and socialize data classification taxonomy aligned to aviation programs and export/trade controls (ITAR EAR GTC) and produce guidance and templates (labels metadata)

  • Establish and maintain data stewardship model: identify data owners/stewards document responsibilities and create onboarding/offboarding processes

  • Partner with Export Compliance Legal Contracts InfoSec Procurement and Program Management to ensure governance meets contractual (CDRL/GTC) and export obligations and supports flowdown requirements

  • Advise on crossborder data flows deemed export risks and sanctioned/deniedparty exposure; support vendor assessments and contractual language for flowdowns

  • Lead governance forums (steering committee data council) create KPIs and compliance metrics and report program maturity to senior leadership

  • Support policy exception request reviews and documented risk acceptance processes

  • Drive integration of governance with technical controls (DLP labeling metadata IAM data catalogs) and with change management for adoption

  • Provide training playbooks and quickreference materials for program teams and suppliers

  • Support audits and regulatory inquiries; produce evidence of compliance (records attestations audit trails)

BasicQualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 10 years of experience developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with senior management customers stakeholders peers and partners

  • 10 years of experience implementing privacy frameworks privacy principles and compliance requirements (e.g. privacy by design ISO/NIST APEC GAPP GDPR CCPA LGPD cookie compliance etc.)

  • 10 years of experience in data governance data management or related function within aerospace defense or other highly regulated industries

  • 10 years of experience with integrating export controls sanctions or government contract requirements (ITAR/EAR/GTC/CDRL) into data governance

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent work or military experience

  • Experience with data catalog MDM and metadata tools (Collibra Alation Informatica etc.)

  • Experience with cloud data controls tenant segregation and data residency constraints

  • Experience with translating policy into operational controls and tooling requirements

  • Experience with leading crossfunctional governance change in complex programmatic environment

Security Clearance:

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
