Job Description

Apprentice Fiber Optic Technician

Full-Time Hourly Tipton MO

Were seeking a hardworking construction-minded individual to join our team. This full-time opportunity joins a fast-paced environment working in fiber line construction. Youll be working alongside an experienced fiber technician. To be successful in this role you will learn to perform fiber optic splicing troubleshooting and drop/cable constructions with the assistance of large and small equipment. Your primary areas of focus will be: new construction troubleshooting existing construction and restoring fiber services.

On a regular basis you will:

  • Perform outside plant construction related to buried and aerial FTTH.
  • Fiber optic splicing (fusion and mechanical).
  • Fiber optic troubleshooting including OTDR and light meter readings.
  • Perform jobsite and project documentation
  • Participate in a regularly scheduled on-call rotation.

The most successful employees in this role have:

  • Willingness to learn and operate all assigned equipment including but not limited to OTDR fusion splicer lasher bucket truck and drop plow. As well as company software and hardware along with general computer skills and proficiency in using standard office equipment.
  • Ability to distinguish colors and clearly communicate Fiber Optic Cable Color Code
  • Willingness to climb alongside a certified pole climber (with the intent to company-
    certify within 2 years).
  • Ability to adhere to all OSHA and DOT requirements
