Job Summary

The College is interested in seeking candidates to teach MA 215: Statistics in the Winter 2026 semester at our Middle College and our Concurrent Enrollment sites. We will have one or more openings at the following locations: East Kentwood High School Launch U/KISD Cedar Springs High School Kent City High School and Sparta High School. These classes involve teaching college-level material to upper-level high school students as part of GRCCs Middle College and Concurrent Enrollment programs. Candidates must be available to teach Monday Wednesday and Friday between 7:30am to 2:45pm in the winter semester. There is potential to teach in additional courses in future semesters as well. A criminal background check and fingerprinting will be conducted on all finalists prior to employment by the respective school districts.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and a commitment to student success ensuring a high-quality learning experience for all students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Teach GRCC course offering(s) in Mathematics
  • Perform tasks normally expected of adjunct faculty members including fostering a stimulating classroom environment following the required syllabus template and using the required textbook as determined by the department.
  • Respond to communications promptly.
  • Create a safe and inclusive learning environment for students.
  • Effectively assess student performance and keep accurate student academic records.
  • Comply with GRCC policies and the Faculty Association Contract.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Mathematics or closely related field (e.g. Statistics Math Ed Physics or Engineering) with at least 18 credits of graduate-level mathematics related coursework required.
  • Teaching experience at a community college or high school preferred.

Skills

  • Demonstrated expertise in the subject area and a commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Strong communication organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population and faculty team.
  • Proficiency in using instructional technology and learning management systems ( Canvas).

Physical Demands

  • Some evening work (grading preparing for class responding to email questions) may be needed.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.

Mental Demands

  • An understanding of and appreciation for the community college philosophy and diverse student population.
  • An interest in teaching college-level material to high school students as part of a middle college or concurrent enrollment program.
  • High energy level with enthusiasm for supporting students and colleagues.
  • Ability to work under pressure while possessing mature judgment and flexibility in regards to interruptions and schedule changes.
  • Must use good judgment in handling sensitive or difficult situations in a professional manner.
