The DevSecOps Engineer is responsible for designing implementing and maintaining secure automated software delivery pipelines that align with FAA mission and security requirements. This role ensures the integration of security best practices into DevOps processes establishes governance for DevSecOps adoption and enables secure reliable and scalable system deployments.
Key Responsibilities
Design build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support secure automated application delivery.
Integrate security automation strategies into all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
Provide governance and oversight of DevSecOps implementation across enterprise systems.
Collaborate with development operations and security teams to ensure security controls compliance and monitoring are built into delivery processes.
Automate the deployment and configuration of applications services and infrastructure using modern DevSecOps tools and frameworks.
Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) and configuration management solutions to ensure consistency and repeatability.
Monitor pipeline health application performance and security posture to ensure operational resilience.
Provide guidance on best practices tools and frameworks for DevSecOps adoption across teams.
Document processes maintain technical artifacts and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems Engineering or related discipline.
1215 years of relevant experience with a BS/BA.
1013 years with a MS/MA.
7 years with a PhD.
Expertise in CI/CD pipeline design and automation (Jenkins GitLab CI Azure DevOps or similar).
Strong knowledge of DevSecOps principles including secure coding practices automated testing and compliance monitoring.
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS Azure GCP) and containerization/orchestration (Docker Kubernetes).
Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform Ansible or similar).
U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
