The Senior Supermarket Refrigeration Installer is responsible for leading field installation crews and ensuring efficient profitable and technically accurate installation of supermarket refrigeration systems. This includes overseeing rack installations case lineups piping brazing electrical hookups startups punch lists and collaboration with GCs and subcontractors.
This role also provides mentorship to junior installers and acts as a key technical resource in the field.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Lead the installation of supermarket refrigeration systems including:
Rack systems (traditional & CO₂/Transcritical)
Walk-in coolers/freezers
Display cases & case lineups
Suction/liquid piping brazing and pressure testing
Line sets condensers controls and EMS hookups
Coordinate full project execution:
Material procurement
Permits & inspections
Job scheduling
Manpower forecasting
Ensure all installations meet manufacturer specifications supermarket requirements and local codes.
Oversee project profitability job tracking and reporting.
Resolve technical issues quickly and effectively on-site.
Maintain strong relationships with customers general contractors and subcontractors.
Train coach and mentor apprentices journeymen and installation techs.
Enforce safety standards PPE compliance and proper refrigeration installation practices.
Conduct system pressure tests evacuation leak checks and assist with startups as required.
Ensure proper documentation including timekeeping project logs and safety reports.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education / Training
High school diploma GED or trade/technical school required
College degree is a plus
EPA 608 Certification strongly preferred
CO₂/Transcritical training a plus
Experience / Skills
5 years hands-on supermarket refrigeration installation experience
Strong knowledge of:
Supermarket rack systems
Parallel racks & CO₂ systems
Walk-in and display case installation
Piping brazing and refrigeration electrical
2 years in a Lead Installer Foreman or Supervisory role
Ability to read blueprints case schedules and refrigeration plans
Experience coordinating with GCs and subcontractors
Strong leadership communication and customer-facing skills
Solid understanding of jobsite safety and OSHA requirements
Proficiency with basic business tools (Email Excel ERP/Dispatch systems)
Valid drivers license with good driving record

Work is performed on active construction sites rooftops mechanical rooms and supermarket environments. Exposure to varying temperatures loud noise refrigerants and mechanical equipment is common.
Physical Requirements
Regular standing walking climbing bending kneeling
Frequent lifting/moving up to 50 lbs
Ability to work from ladders lifts and roofs
Ability to work in cold environments (walk-ins/freezers)
Clear vision depth perception and manual dexterity required
