A minimum of 5 years of experience in the design and delivery of public engagement processes and strategy including understanding of the theory best practices and application of public engagement and data analysis and reporting
Skills required for success:
Experience as a facilitator and in planning and delivering meetings and workshops with internal and external stakeholders
Ability and willing attitude to work respectfully and collaboratively with others and to take initiative in a complex high-volume environment
Demonstrated ability to leverage strong relational and project management skills to work with internal and external stakeholders in a complex environment
Experience in inclusive approaches (such as Gender Based Analysis Plus or other) to foster engagement
Excellent communication skills and presentation skills
Proficiency in using and learning various software programs including Gmail Google Calendar and Google Docs is required
Demonstrated ability to achieve results in the context of a respectful inclusive and service-minded style

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52
The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance
This position may require occasional evening and weekend work

The Integrated Infrastructure Services (IIS) Public Engagement team is seeking a Public Engagement Advisor to support a diverse portfolio of city-shaping projects. We are looking for a team member who is curious about finding collaborative solutions to complex situations and committed to inclusive creative and effective engagement with Edmontonians to support decision making.
Drawing upon your breadth of knowledge about best practices in public engagement and relationship building you will support portfolios and project teams in planning implementing reporting and evaluating public engagement processes. You will thrive in this role if you approach challenges with a curious tenacious leadership-oriented and service-minded spirit.
What will you do
Provide strategic advice and guidance to project/program teams branches and business areas on best practices frameworks policies as well as tools and techniques for public engagement. This includes decision makers at the Manager Director Branch Manager and Deputy City Manager levels
Consult with clients to create detailed public engagement processes and plans based on specific engagement needs and priorities
Create strategies and action plans and identify resource requirements and timelines for public engagement
Plan and support the implementation of digital and in-person public engagement activities including the selection of approaches tools and techniques
Gather analyze synthesize and share public engagement feedback leveraging online and digital tools and platforms
Monitor report and evaluate participation in and participant experience of public engagement activities
Implement strategies that demonstrate an understanding of stakeholder concerns and mitigate issues
Work collaboratively with clients to understand their engagement needs and priorities
Research and implement best and innovative practices and test new engagement techniques
Assist in developing new processes tools and policies to support online engagement activities
Identify and understand complex issues and how they may impact public engagement activities
Utilize project management to identify strategies action plans resource requirements and timelines for public engagement
Oversee procurement and/or managing and evaluating consultant teams
Perform other related duties as required
