Job Summary

The #1 provider of associates-level nurses in the nation seeks Registered Nurses to join the faculty at Ivy Tech Community College in Evansville Indiana.

Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the School.

General Description of Position:

Adjunct faculty in our Nursing School teach the next generation of nurses in the vital work they do and provide instruction (classes labs & clinicals) within the program. They assist academic administrators with curriculum development student advising program enrollment; provide institutional support and community service. Fully supports the Colleges mission and strategic plan initiatives.

With a passion for patients and for teaching our Registered Nurse faculty provide the real work experience that allow Ivy Tech to be the largest provider of associates-level nurses in the nation. Our graduates are prepared for work in hospitals nursing and residential care facilities home health care physician offices schools health departments and more.

Major Responsibilities:

Instruction:

  • Deliver assigned classes in accordance with college loading policy and course objectives.

  • Develop and maintain course outlines syllabi lesson plans assignments tests and other course materials.

  • Maintain student records attendance grades and other documentation as required. Maintain a safe quality classroom/ lab including equipment supplies inventory and maintenance.

Professional Development:

  • Participates in professional development or other activities that may include in-services courses or seminars to advance instructional and technical skills as well as knowledge within the fi eld of study.

Institutional Support:

  • Provide institutional support as expected by college administration that may include curriculum development classroom management accreditation efforts committee and task force assignments attendance at commencement or other activities that are college-wide or specific to the division/department of the faculty member.

Advising:

  • Provide student advising support as expected by college administration that may include assistance during pre and regular registration periods and during posted office hours.

Program Management:

  • Maintain office hours in accordance with the faculty loading guidelines.

  • Support Program Chair in program management activities.

Other Functions:

  • Assist in the recruitment of students.

  • Develop community/industry contacts

Hiring Range:

  • $45.00 per contact hour (approximately $2160 per 8-week course

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Registered Nurse and

  • Possesses a current unencumbered Indiana Registered Nurse license and

  • Possesses an earned masters degree in nursing or Bachelors degrees in nursing with all of the following requirements met: Within one semester of initial hire must have a written academic plan of study for completion of a Masters degree in nursing and provides ongoing documentation (each semester) demonstrating progression towards completion of a Masters degree in nursing.

  • Continued employment of a person who does not hold a Masters degree in nursing shall be contingent upon documented progress towards their approved academic plan.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree of Nursing.
