Job Summary



PURPOSE

Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Education and TrainingTheManager of Early Learning provides visionary leadership to develop and sustainhigh-quality early learning programs rooted in Gwichin culture language andcommunity values. Responsible for the strategic direction implementation andevaluation of early learning programs this role ensures that Gwichin childrenhave the opportunity to grow up strong in their identity and ready for lifelonglearning. The Manager works collaboratively with Elders families educatorsand stakeholders to build holistic land-based and culturally responsive earlychildhood systems across the Gwichin Settlement Region.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadthe strategic planning implementation and evaluation of early learninginitiatives in alignment with GTCs Education & Capacity mandate.

Leadsthe implementation and continuous support of early learning programs ensuringalignment with and adherence to the Gwichin Early Learning and ChildcareFrameworks vision and objectives.

Designand continuously improve programs that reflect Gwichin knowledge systemsfamily needs and community priorities.

Establishmeasurable outcomes for childrens development family engagement and culturalcontinuity.

Leadthe design implementation and continuous enhancement of early learningprograms for Gwichin children aged 06 reflecting the unique needs of eachGwichin community.

IntegrateGwichin language stories land-based practices and cultural knowledge intocurriculum and learning environments.

Developclear strategic goals aligned with the GTCs Education & Capacity strategicframework.

Superviseearly learning staff and support their professional development mentorshipand capacity-building.

Workin partnership with Elders Knowledge Holders parents and community leadersto guide program design and delivery.

Fostera culture of respect safety and belonging in early learning environments.

Buildstrong relationships with local early childhood programs Gwichin communitieseducation partners and territorial agencies to align and strengthen services.

Advocatefor resources policies and supports that promote the health learning andwell-being of Gwichin children and families.

RepresentGTC on early childhood education committees working groups and regional ornational initiatives.

Monitorprogram quality using culturally relevant indicators along with recognizedtools for early learning environments.

Ensurecompliance with territorial legislation health and safety standards andfunding requirements.

Prepareand manage program budgets funding proposals and funding sources (governmentgrants contracts etc.)

Leadsregular team check-ins to provide constructive feedback ensures the completionof annual or semi-annual performance reviews and establishes measurableperformance goals with individual development plans.

Additionalduties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

ABachelors degree or diploma in Early Childhood Development Child DevelopmentEducational Administration or a related field is preferred.

Minimumof 5 years of experience in early childhood education including at least 2years in a supervisory or leadership role.

Demonstratedknowledge of Gwichin values language and traditions or commitment torespectfully engage with community knowledge.

Experiencein Indigenous education curriculum development or early learning systemtransformation.

Strongleadership communication and organizational skills.

Knowledgeof relevant funding programs (e.g. IELCC ELCC) regulatory frameworks andculturally responsive assessment practices.

Demonstratedability to lead teams manage projects and drive program improvement.

Excellentcommunication interpersonal and organizational skills.

Experienceworking with diverse populations and promoting equity and inclusion in education.

ValidClass 5 Drivers License and ability to travel to communities and land-basedprogram sites as required.
