We deliver secure high-quality language support in more than 80 spoken and signed languages for USCIS and other federal agencies.

We are seeking Akan Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Akan which includes Twi and Fante dialects is a major West African language spoken primarily in Ghana and among diaspora communities and is often required in asylum refugee and immigration proceedings.

Responsibilities

Provide real-time Akan (Twi/Fante) English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews hearings and official proceedings.
Interpret accurately impartially and with cultural sensitivity in immigration and legal contexts.
Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with USCIS/DHS interpreter standards.
Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge calls.
Participate in training compliance refreshers and quality assurance reviews.

Qualifications

Native or near-native fluency in Akan (Twi and/or Fante) and English.
2 years of professional interpreting experience (immigration asylum community medical or government preferred).
Strong understanding of interpreter ethics confidentiality and neutrality.
Excellent telephone communication skills; ability to remain accurate under pressure.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 federal clearance.
