Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) is seeking applicants for a 10-month cyclicLibrary & Archives Paraprofessional 2at our Clarkston WA campus.

General Responsibilities:
This position will support operations and services at the Clarkston Campus Library. This position is essential for maintaining access to resources and services that support student learning and success. This position reports to the Director of Libraries at the Walla Walla Campus and the Dean of Clarkston Campus and will serve as the lead library coordinator for the Clarkston Campus Library Operations.

Essential Functions:
Patron Support

  • Contribute to a positive and welcoming atmosphere for all Library patrons
  • Perform circulation transactions including check in/outs renewals and placing holds
  • Assist Library patrons with technology support including basic Office Canvas and printing.
  • Assist patrons by providing directional and basic library and institutional information and referring to appropriate staff person librarian or department as needed for complex queries
  • Support outreach and connection efforts through supporting library programming displays and maintaining and enhancing the librarys public spaces
Administrative Tasks
  • Support library assessment by maintaining usage stats manually and electronically (MS Office-Excel)
  • Process Library materials for Course Reserves
  • Coordinate with WWCC Library to process and provide access to library print materials including purchasing and basic copy cataloging.
  • Process Interlibrary loans
  • Process Library Donations
  • Coordinate with Clarkston based personnel-IT Administration etc. to ensure an accessible and safe environment.
Stacks and Collection Maintenance
  • Responsible for physical collection maintenance including shelving shelf-reading applying material appropriate cleaning techniques and book covering and labeling
  • Basic book repair
Other duties as assigned

  • Ability to learn essential electronic library systems including KOHA and basic fluency with library databases.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

Required Qualifications:
Any combination of education experience and/or training that provides the applicant with the knowledge and skills to perform the job may be considered by the college.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year of experience in the functional operations of a library or archives. Equivalent education may substitute for experience at the discretion of the college.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
  • Associates degree
  • Experience working in an Education environment.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish

Conditions/Terms of Employment

This classified position is in a bargaining unit for which WPEA Higher Ed is the exclusive representative.

This position typically works 40 hours per week Monday-Friday within the operating hours of the Clarkston Campus 7:30am-5:30pm. This is a 10-month cyclic position so work will correlate to the academic school year. Work is held within an academic setting with fluctuations in quiet noise level and patron interactions and behaviors. Typical tools of the trade will be used such as office equipment computing devices copiers printers and scanners. Work is performed almost exclusively indoors in an office environment. Exposure to hazards is limited to those commonly found in office environments.

The college has an excellent benefit program including medical dental life and long-term disability insurance; paid sick leave; paid vacation leave; and retirement plan. All full-time employees will automatically have 3% of taxable income deferred into the State of Washington Deferred Compensation Program (DCP) unless declined at time of hire. WWCC requires all employees to participate in direct deposit for payment of salary. The college is tobacco free.

Persons hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of lawful authorization to work in the United States within three (3) days of employment and successfully complete a probationary period.
