A passionate and critical thinker you continually use your medical and surgical nursing skills to assess treat and communicate with this role you will acquire experience with various technical skills including applying ECGs inserting IVs being part of the Code Blue response team and operating Continuous Ambulatory Delivery Device (CADD) Pain Pumps.

About the Orthopedic Rehabilitation Program
The Orthopedic Rehabilitation Program delivers comprehensive care for patients recuperating from multiple traumas or orthopedic surgeries predominantly focusing on lower extremities as well as those who underwent surgery for sarcoma. Led by an interdisciplinary team our services encompass physiotherapy and occupational therapy assessments and treatments customized to each patients needs with round-the-clock nursing care supporting activities of daily living. With 62 beds our unit ensures ample space for recovery.


In this role you will:

  • Provide comprehensive quality patient/family centred health care services
  • Provide nursing care in collaboration with the patient significant others and interprofessional team
  • Be responsible for all new admissions and the admission assessment
  • Provide leadership and contributes to an environment that fosters interprofessional collaborative practice and quality/safe patient care practices
  • Establish patient care plans based on bio-psychosocial and spiritual needs assessment and integrating other health professionals recommendations
  • Involve patients and their families in developing the plan of care and in facilitating choice among care options so that care is individualized according to each patients needs
  • Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required


Job Type: Temporary Part Time (up to 12 months)

Rotation:Day/Evening

Job Requirements:

Mandatory

  • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification



Preferred

  • A baccalaureate degree from a CNO-approved nursing program
  • Recent completion of a physical assessment course


Skills & Knowledge

  • Familiarity with:
    • Regulated Health Professions Act
    • Occupational Health and Safety Act WHMIS
  • Demonstrated ability in providing patient-focused care
  • Proven ability to make decisions and manage workload in a fast-paced work environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others including patients and their families
  • Must have physical strength flexibility and endurance required to perform the role as determined by the needs of the position and based on assessment conducted by Occupational Health Services


Salary:Minimum - $37.93/hour; Maximum - $54.37/hour
