Job Summary
Essential Functions
Operate Carpenter Shop Tools (Daily) Responsible for the safe operation of tools and equipment while performing various essential functions of the position. Tools include a table saw a jointer a bandsaw a wood shaper a radial arm saw power sanders a drill press a miter box a compound miter saw a reciprocating saw a disc sander and a variety of hand tools. Repairs and installs windows doors floors walls partitions and cabinets. Construction and Repairs (Daily) Repairs furniture and replaces parts. Lays brick and concrete block. Repairs roofs and re-roofs. Installs glass. Builds forms for concrete work. Pours and finishes concrete floors and sidewalks. Hangs and finishes work on sheetrock. Constructs desks cabinets bookcases and shelving. Estimates the costs of jobs and requisitions supplies. Installs and replaces suspended ceiling systems. Supervises Student Workers (Daily) Supervises student workers assigned to work with the person in this position. Communication (Daily) Must be able to communicate with supervisor staff and faculty in a timely factual clear concise and meaningful manner. Read Blueprints Must be able to read blueprints and construct to remodel according to prepared plans. Operate College Vehicles Must be able/licensed to operate College vehicles to transport equipment and materials to the various work sites. Promote a Culture of Belonging Support and promote an environment of belonging where all students faculty members and college employees feel welcomed valued and empowered to contribute. Minimum Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent plus five (5) years of verifiable carpentry experience OR - Associates Degree in Building Construction plus three (3) years of verifiable carpentry experience. Maintain and possess a valid Drivers license and the ability to qualify for auto insurance.
